This website is dedicated to all boaters, new and experienced, who enjoy being on the water and want to run a safe, smart boat. The goal of this site is to provide you with an easy-to-use source for information on boating and related activities.

How This Whole Thing Got Started

I'm Jeff Small, a live-aboard cruiser. I've been sailing for 22 years and have lived aboard my sailboat for the past 3 years. My sailing travels have taken me over 11,000 miles from Maine to Key West, the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Over the past 20 years I've developed checklists for just about every activity related to equipping, launching and sailing a boat. I've shared these lists with fellow boaters and have received many good tips from them as well. Now I've consolidated my checklists into this website. I hope that these checklists will help to save you time and money and make you a Smart Captain.
